Old Abbey Taphouse
The Old Abbey Taphouse re-opened in October 2016 as a STEAM (that's Science Technology Engineering Arts and Maths) focused hub in a pub.
We’re a community pub functioned as a hub, pub, music venue, work desk space and home to Steam Radio and the band Galivantes! We do lots of outreach especially around reducing isolation and food poverty. Every Tuesday, since the first lock down we deliver a 2 course hot meal and hamper of goodies to the door of residents - and 4 times a year we host a Feast for the Community.
We have a large stretch tent and outdoor stage with a capacity of 300.
We work with our neighbours to make our local area a better place
Get in touch
We are based in an old victorian building - we have looked into making the building accessible and have struggled due to it being a historic property. We are not therefore accessible but we will make every effort to accomodate anyone wanting to access the building - please give us a call or email in advance so our staff can be on hand to offer any additional support you may need.
There are 3 steps into the venue, then it is all at one level.
We have no accessible toilets but we do have the fob for the nearest fully accessbile toilets in the nearest building.
Friends of ours have accessed the buildung using a wheelchair through the kitchen. There is cobbles and a slight ramp and then one small step.
