WCLC: \'The Myth of Venice\': 16th-century
music for cornetto & keyboard

1:10pm – 1:55pm
45 mins
29 Feb

The appointment of Willaert at San Marco in 1527 heralded the emergence of Venice as a cultural super-power. This recital explores the composers who built the 'myth of Venice' in sound.

“Glenton’s own diminutions are gently and lightly patted into the larger musical line. And together with Wollston’s calm, the whole thing sways like a dance made of chiffon.” Gramophone, Jan 2022
